Chairman's talk June 5, 2023

On Friday, May 26, the NVTHC met again at Chef Cha's. Small turnout, but it was very enjoyable, so we will keep the new table setup. Many members have already gone to the Netherlands for a holiday.
The board was also incomplete. Our new board member Mali ten Houten was on holiday in his own country, Rini Busschers was in the Netherlands for business and family and Sjoerd Joosten was unable to attend.
On Sunday, May 21, the Bamboo school received a large donation. Hans Goudriaan has raised a lot of money with the Lions Club IJsselmonde. Our previous board donated 15,000THB and the readers of the Thailand blog and our members jointly donated 40,000THB. It financed a major expansion that was festively opened with something tasty and an ice cream for all the children. This fantastic project deserves our continued financial (under the leadership of Hans Goudriaan) and medical support (under the leadership of Gerard Smit). Hans Bos gave a nice report on all of this in the Thailand blog of May 24. Definitely worth reading.
A trip with a visit to the Bamboo school is planned for August 15th. Recommended!
We have passed 140 members! Robert and Edwin are busy with the Centara party and the afterparty in December. Various (local) artists have been permanently contracted.
Patrick once again draws attention to the golf tournament on June 10 (competition) and June 11 (free golf) at the Banyan. Costs all incl. approximately 3000THB. A pleasant evening is planned on June 9 to get to know each other. Patrick once again points out to keep an eye on the event calendar for July. If an event is final, it is included.
You are also asked to provide Edwin with your telephone number as much as possible so that we can call you if there is a sudden change or emergency.
Also let us know if you have a nice idea for a trip!
Meanwhile, the Dutch sailing week is taking place in the Netherlands on the IJsselmeer and the World Cup Kitesurfing Olympic Class is also being held in which 4 kitesurfers from Huahin from the Surfspot club are also participating. Our club member (and also Surfspot kitesurfer) Bram Hofstede coaches the group with the assistance of another Dutch kitesurfer from Hua Hin. During the rest breaks (10 minutes between races) in the stone-cold water, they can rest on Bram's coach boat, called the THAITANIC, have something to eat and drink and continue. Sunday June 4 is the last day of the Kitesurf World Cup.
Due to an expected lower attendance of members in the coming months, the next official meeting will be on July 28 and then on September 29, October 27 and November 24. In between, the Summer Evening Café is organized in Say Cheese. We will end the year on December 16 with a fantastic party at Centara.
The chairman wishes you all a beautiful summer in your home country!
