Building a workable future for our association together
Now that no new board has been elected, we, as an association, find ourselves at a point where we must calmly and honestly look at the future. Not only at the question of who formally sits on a board, but above all at the question of how we can keep the association alive in a pleasant, practical, and sustainable manner.
In practice, our association has become broader than a small, traditional board can handle alone. There are many different activities, contacts, and ideas that require attention. Precisely for this reason, it seems appropriate to work step by step in the coming period towards an organizational form that better suits who we are now: open, active, social, and multifaceted.
To do that carefully, we want to adhere to the following seven steps:
- Mapping out what the wishes and needs are
- Talking to people and finding out who could do what
- Setting up and testing the website and IT structure
- Determining how many active people are actually available
- Build the new organization based on that
- Draft new house rules
- Ensure a clear annual system of continuity and replacement
This sequence is important. Therefore, we do not want to immediately establish a new structure from the top down, but rather first listen carefully, explore, and build. First, we need to know what is important, what tasks need to be done, which people are willing to commit, and what is feasible in practice. Only then can a new organization emerge step by step that truly works.
Drafting new house rules is also part of this. These must clarify how the association functions, how responsibilities are distributed, how participation remains guaranteed, and how we can maintain continuity.
So, this is not about a sudden break, but about a calm and careful build-up. Together, we can work towards a form that better aligns with today's reality: something broader, something more practical, and hopefully also more pleasant for everyone who holds the association dear. |
