ELECTIONS

At the very last minute, a women's team applied to join the board. This is, of course, very encouraging news: thanks to this application, elections for a new board can still be held. It's encouraging to see that several candidate teams are willing to take responsibility and commit to our club.

This is a reason for the caretaker board to take another step election AGM to unsubscribe. This will take place on Thursday, February 26th, from 6 p.m. at Chef Cha.

We hereby cordially invite you to attend and cast your vote.

PLEASE NOTE: ONLY MEMBERS (2026 CONTRIBUTION PAID) HAVE ACCESS TO THIS AGM!!

THE TEAMS

Below you'll find an overview of the two teams from which a choice can be made. To keep everyone well-informed, we've asked both teams to provide a brief overview of their plans (their election manifestos). These explanations (as received) are included below so you can read through and compare the proposals at your leisure.

In addition, we've asked each team to give a short presentation of no more than five minutes at the Annual General Meeting. The goal is to clearly explain their plans and outline the key priorities. To keep the process clear and efficient, there will be no time for questions or discussion during these presentations. This prevents unnecessary verbal conflict and ensures that each team gets equal speaking time.

TEAM 1 (alphabetical):

  • HANS BOS
  • DO VAN DRUNEN
  • THEO VAN DER HEIJDEN
  • ERIC HULST

Explanation and program received from team 1:

  • “We are still standing for election, as stated in the farewell letter from the board, so in alphabetical order: Hans Bos, Do van Drunen, Theo van der Heijde and Eric Hulst.
  • We are a stable, experienced board that is available all year round.
  • We also want a fair and public roll call vote.
  • Our goal is a purely Dutch association with no links to Eldery Blossom or to any international club.
  • Our main goal is a friendly association without any bickering.
  • I am prepared to explain this further during the meeting.”

TEAM 2 (alphabetical):

  • ELMI SMIT
  • SASKIA HOFSTEDE
  • MIEKE VERKUIJLEN

Explanation and program received from team 2:

“The new NVT of Hua Hin and Surroundings: NVT-Light

1. Mission: Social Connection as a Foundation

Our proposal is that the NVTHC chooses a new course and a different focus: NVT-Light.

We're focusing on what truly matters: facilitating mutual contact and sharing knowledge and experiences. Therefore, we're moving away from a broadly focused, energy-intensive association structure.

Why this course change?

  • Changing interests: While attendance at monthly meetings remains good, interest in attending special activities is declining.
  • Changing target group: Most Dutch people who live (or come to live) in this neighborhood are retirees.
  • Aging & Care: Our members are getting older. This requires more mutual involvement and support, especially in times of illness or loss.
  • Less active members: the enthusiasm to be active within the association is decreasing.

2. Social Program

Activities are being simplified. The focus is solely on strengthening ties between Dutch speakers and their partners living in the Hua Hin area.

  • Eating and meeting together: The monthly meetings (such as with Chef Cha) and the New Year's reception remain the fixed anchor points.
  • Welcome to the region: New residents are welcomed by a host or hostess who shows them around, allowing them to get off to a good start and quickly become integrated.
  • Sharing knowledge: The website and newsletter serve as a digital village square for relevant information from and for members. (Commercial announcements are possible – for a fee – under certain conditions.)
  • Looking after each other: We are intensifying our support for those experiencing illness, death, and loneliness. This takes the form of visits, small gifts, or the coordination of a buddy for those who need it.
  • Room for initiative: Small-scale social initiatives are encouraged and supported, but the initiators themselves remain responsible for the organization and finances.

What we do NOT do:

  • Events that require a lot of organization or finances, such as Christmas, King's Day, Sinterklaas
  • Live music
  • Charity

Partly because of this, the membership fee can probably be reduced with effect from 2027.

 3. Organization NVT-Light: Coordination team+

The organization of the NVT-light will consist of a selected coordination team, supplemented where necessary by a variable number of volunteers.

If the Meeting this NVT-light form supports, the undersigned are willing to facilitate the above-mentioned activities and form the coordination team.

We believe it is important that members have a choice and with this initiative we hope to make a positive contribution to the future of our NVT. .
